About the Event

Even as the recent U. S. Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v. Wade upends many areas of American life, it is a significant attack on "the wall of separation between church and state” and the ability to follow the teachings of Judaism and other faiths, and personal conscience. Rabbi Dennis S. Ross, director of Concerned Clergy for Choice for Planned Parenthood Empire State Acts, will discuss "Post-Roe Reality: Jewish Perspectives" as a part of Shabbat services.

Concerned Clergy for Choice is a multi-faith network of religious leaders supporting access to contraception, safe and legal abortion, sex education, and GLBTQ+ rights.  Concerned Clergy for Choice was a leader in advancing New York State's Reproductive Health Act, Comprehensive Contraception Coverage Act, and Marriage Equality Act. He serves on the Clergy Advocacy Board of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America.

Rabbi Ross has written the New York Times, the Boston Globe, Forward, and other publications. He is the author of All Politics Is Religious.  His most recent book is A Year with Martin Buber: Wisdom from the Weekly Torah Portion. And, he is husband to Rabbi Deborah Zecher, Hevreh's Rabbi Emerita.
