The High Holy Days 5777 were a beautiful and meaningful affirmation of the strong bonds that hold Hevreh together as a community.
All of us were brought to new spiritual heights by our rabbinic team, Rabbi Neil Hirsch and Rabbi Jodie Gordon, and their musical support team of Joshua Zecher-Ross, cantorial soloist, and Amy Renak, choir director. We also want to extend our appreciation to Rabbi Liz Hirsch who inspired us on the second day of Rosh Hashanah and lent her musical talents at both family services, along with Jeff Rothenberg. We are grateful for their leadership, and wish Josh Zecher-Ross much success in his new endeavors.
It was wonderful to hear our ancient observances and prayers enlivened with new musical arrangements, new texts, and new interpretations. We felt new connections to one another.
Our office staff and many congregants handled a multitude of tasks that are necessary in order for our High Holy Days to be successful. We thank all those who helped with office work, planted flowers, directed traffic, ushered at the door, supervised young children, donated and arranged flowers, prepared and plated food for the break-fast, led meditation, blew the shofar, and helped to “put everything away” at the end of Yom Kippur.
Hevreh would like to thank our co-chairs Janice & Rik Kabel, and Marilyn & Elie Katzman – your efforts helped to make the Holy Days a huge success!
