Pre-confirmation class meets twice a month with our rabbis on Sunday mornings. The Pre-Confirmation program serves as a bridge between the years of preparation that culminate with B’nai Mitzvah, and the beginning of our teen programs at Hevreh. Each year, our Pre-Confirmation students look forward to planning and running the Purim Carnival, and creating an original Shabbat service to mark their “moving up” to Confirmation Class.
Confirmation class meets twice monthly with our rabbis on Sunday mornings. Comprised of students in grades 9-12, Confirmation Class offers teens the opportunity to expand their Jewish community, while deepening friendships they have begun to build during their years at Hevreh. In Confirmation Class, students have the chance to ask big questions about identity, belief, and belonging. With our rabbis, these questions are answered through text, film, literature, art, and travel. One of the highlights of the Confirmation Class program is an annual trip: these trips may include international trips to Prague & Amsterdam, a Civil Rights trip to Alabama, and participating in the Religious Action Center’s lobbying program, L’Taken in Washington D.C.
Madrikhim/Young Teachers are members of the Confirmation Class. Our madrikhim not only serve as role models and guides to our younger students, but we in turn guide them in developing their teaching and leadership skills while strengthening their Jewish identity. The Madrikhim program offers motivated teens the chance to assist in our classrooms on Sundays and Wednesdays.
